70th ANNIVERSARY OF THE OLD BEDFORD BUS

Bedford Bus at Bletchley ParkBletchley Park to welcome record number of Bedford Buses,

If you need to catch a bus, then be at Bletchley Park Sunday 16 August.  As part of the 70th anniversary of the Bedford Bus celebrations, up to thirty of these vintage Buses will be driving to Bletchley Park from the Vauxhall Heritage Centre in Luton.

During the Second World War, Bedford Buses would have been a common sight at Bletchley Park where they helped to transport staff to and from the secret codebreaking centre, which itself is celebrating 70 years since the start of the codebreaking activities that changed the course of World War Two.

“There are 73 known Bedford Bus survivors and we want as many of them as possible to turn up; to see one Bedford OB is special, but to see several together is truly something else,” says Tim Wootton, head of the ‘OB Get-Together’, the Bedford Bus owners and enthusiasts group.

The day will also see a magnificent display of World War Two air-power with a Lancaster flypast, courtesy of The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.  Throughout the day a selection of films about the history of the Bedford Bus will be shown in the Enigma cinema.  All the buses will be on site from 1pm onwards.  Bletchley Park will be open to visitors from 10.30am to 5.00pm
