All You Need Is Love at Milton Keynes theatre |
The Free Love is Flowing…(at Milton Keynes Theatre… this week!) Written by Leon Templar, Ardour UK All you need is Love, playing at the Milton Keynes Theatre, Tues 29th July- Saturday 2nd August, continues the exciting line up of top quality performances to grace the Stage. In my opinion, the title of the program says it all, “A fab celebration of the swinging sixties”, well this definitely does what it says on the “tin”! Playing to a packed audience, we were treated to a non-stop, toe tapping journey through the music that was the sixties. From the moment the curtain rose, the scene was set and the audience were primed to relax and enjoy, reminisce and take part. Fronted by a talented cast of 16, performers, 8 dancers and 8 principal singers, with 4 male and 4 female cast members in each group. The performance benefited from crisp, clean choreography, bright costumes and strong vocal performances from the principal singers. Technically, this was staged brilliantly; using a static set over two levels, there was always plenty to keep the eye busy. Lighting was complex and used different coloured backgrounds, as well as effects to instantly set the mood for a particular song or scene in general. This performance left me on a high! It was refreshing to be able to see a show with such a feel good factor! Initially I was wondering just what was in store for us, and having not grown up in the sixties my self, I had visions of sitting there not knowing a single song, but quite to the contrary! The audience were taken in from the first song, and at one point, a gentleman down the front was even having a boogie of his own! All in all, this production captured the essence of the music, the humour, emotion and energy of the era and brought this back to life for the audience. If you are looking for a great night out in Milton Keynes over the next few days, then I can highly recommend “All you need is love” for people of all ages! This is one not to be missed, and with the buzz that left with the audience, I would recommend booking as early as you can, to avoid disappointment. |
