ASDA Hunts For Miniature Monets In Milton Keynes

Budding young Picassos in Milton Keynes are being asked to get artistic and create a very personal picture for their hometown in an art competition run by the local ASDA store.

Nick Gerrard, Store Manager of ASDA in Milton Keynes, says: "To celebrate our town and community, we’re asking local children to create art showing what their hometown means to them - it could be anything from a landscape piece to portrait of family members or school friends, anything that’s important to them in our town.”

Facilities have been set up in store for the first week of the competition (Monday 22nd – Sunday 28th) so children can get artistic whilst their parents shop. Alternatively, entries can be given in at the customer service desk.

Entrants can use any medium they like - felt tips, paint, crayons, collage or even computer generated graphics. The winning entry will receive £100 worth of ASDA vouchers to spend in store and £50 will go to the runner up. Closing date for entries is Monday 6th October.

Nick continues: “Entries will be displayed in the store before being judged in late October – we’ll be looking for positive, vibrant and imaginative entries showing what Milton Keynes really means to our youngsters. Hopefully we’ll uncover a few mini Monets hiding out in Buckinghamshire!”

The competition is being run to help launch ASDA’s local week (running 29th September – 5th October), ASDA has a new and exclusive way of sourcing its local produce - it has set up hubs throughout the UK which take on local suppliers on behalf of ASDA and distribute produce to ASDA stores in their region, thus increasingly local ranges in stores and drastically reducing the number of ‘food miles’ travelled by produce.
