Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy was assaulted in Milton Keynes.

The victim was with friends in the wooded area between Furzton Lake and the Pavilion on Lynmouth Crescent on Sunday 28 June around 9.30pm when he saw six boys approach him.

They pointed at him and then ran towards him. The victim ran away and sought refuge under the wooden footbridge. One of the six boys approached him and head-butted him. During the assault, the victim also received a bang to the head and cuts to his ankle.

Two members of the public intervened and helped escort the victim and his friend away towards their homes. The six offenders, now on bicycles, followed and confronted the victim again, as well as the two members of the public. At this point they saw the police and made off around the lake, towards the V4 Watling Street.

The main offender is white, aged around 16, 5ft 9ins and slim. He has dark-coloured hair, which was thick, quite long at the back and possibly in a grown-out Mohican style. He was wearing a red T-shirt and was riding a mountain bike. The group he was with was consuming alcohol and smoking and some of the group were riding BMX-style bikes.

PC Chris Bird, investigating, said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack and understandably the victim is distressed by the incident. I urge anyone with information regarding the incident to contact me or Crimestoppers.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is urged to contact PC Bird at Milton Keynes police station via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
