Big Arm (Review) The Pitz Milton Keynes |
One of the Strangest things happened tonight. The Pitz played host to a fantastic band called Big Arm (ex-Happy Mondays with the exception of Shaun Ryder) who were amazing. Very professional. Bringing along their own mixer who sat at the back on his huge mixing desk. obviously not everyone can afford such luxuries. They had singer (Paul Ryder), guitarist, bass player, a percussionist as well as a drummer and a synth or keyboardist. The strange thing was. I mean the sound coming out of those speakers was golden. They were awesome. The weird thing was... Was there was no one there! I couldn't believe my eyes and my ears. One guy working at the Pitz told me they sold six tickets with two on the guest list. I know they will be doing a lot more gigs at a lot more venues here and there and hopefully they'll get what they rightfully deserve, a full capacity. Their materiel was that good, tomorrow i'll be looking to get my hands on it. If you liked the Mondays you'd be well pleased with their songs which are from their debut album Radiator. Being ex-members of the Mondays they have that same style and feel. and you could even argue that with age and experience they've got better. The guy who told me about the ticket sales also said that no matter what happens Big Arm will get paid. At the end of the day if there's no sales it's the Pitz that lose pocket. So because of this reason maybe in the future they'll come back. It did feel like they and their support act hurried through their sets, not playing as many songs as they would of had there been a capacity they deserved. It can't of been very encouraging for them. They did give the few that was there free Big Arm T-shirts, which made up for even the lack of an encore at the audience request. Anyway I thought It a small tragedy that such a good act present in MK had virtually no-on there to enjoy it.
I like the set-up at the Pitz and I know most of the time its busy so Wednesday was a bit of a shock. So let no one say that Milton Keynes doesn't provide good music coz when someone like the Pitz put on a great act like this, no one turned up. It's ironic that the best band i've seen had the least crowd. Strange. I'll finish off by saying, anyone that likes the Mondays, Big Arm is a must. This band has my stamp of approval so anyone that hasn't heard them, check-em out. I hope to see more of them coz I believe that at long as Big Arm keeps believing we will hear more and more of them as time rolls by. For reviews contact Gef |
