Bletchley Park is delighted to announce that one of the tenants of the Bletchley Park Science and Innovation Centre, ipcortex, have been recognised by ITSPA for the Best VoIP Hardware - in their second award nomination this year.
Converged communications developer ipcortex reached the finals based on the strength of their innovative business phone systems – the VoIPCortex IP PBX range. Utilising "Voice over IP" (VoIP) technology, their solutions enable businesses of all sizes and of various industries to benefit from increased functionality and flexibility, with the potential to deliver impressive cost and call quality advantages in the process.
ITSPA, (the Internet Telephony Services Providers’ Association) represents companies who provide voice and video communications over the internet; services that today are revolutionising the way that people communicate. Their awards are aimed at recognising new innovations and advancements in a sector that is vital in our modern world, but is often taken for granted.
Of the awards nomination, ipcortex Director Rob Pickering commented, "Communicating via Voice over IP has never been easier or indeed more beneficial. With an ipcortex IP PBX system, businesses of any size can benefit from massive cost reductions, higher flexibility and productivity. We are very proud that our efforts to make this a reality have been recognised – not once, but twice this year."
Pickering continued, "The innovative work completed at Bletchley Park during the war was instrumental in both helping to end the conflict, and in laying the foundations for a number of technologies we see today. It's both inspirational and humbling to have the opportunity to work at the very site that saw the birth of modern computing - without which many methods of communication, as we know them, would not exist."
Bletchley Park is the home of Colossus; the world’s first ever semi-programmable electronic computer. It was secretly designed and built during World War Two to aid the codebreakers decipher German High Command messages. It is fitting therefore that the Bletchley Park Science and Innovation Centre is now an incubator to over 30 companies, including ipcortex, who are at the forefront of the communications revolution that is VoIP. It is perhaps then more fitting still that Simon Greenish the Director of the Bletchley Park Trust was a Key Speaker at the Award ceremony. Simon said
“I was honoured to be asked to talk at the event, as it fitted so wonderfully with not only Bletchley Park’s past but also its future. The speed of innovation at wartime Bletchley Park was phenomenal and it is clear that this is being matched by what is achieved in its modern day ‘Science and Innovation Centre.”
