Random acts of heroic love in Danny Scheinmann first novel.

This is a heartbreaking epic story of two lives sustained by the memory of love. Both character's voice remain separate and each are thoroughly convincing.

The story starts in 1992 with Leo Deakin he wakes in hospital to discover that his girlfriend Eleni is dead. He doesn't know where he is or how she died. At the same time another story begins about Moritz Daniecki in 1917 who is determined to return to his love, Lotte.

The book shows struggle to survive grief and the fight to survive illness for both characters, it contains quotations from Shakespeare and others. These are randomly placed  within the book. It also contains pictures and maps these are also entries such as:

Entry no.33
"and when he speaks, the voice of all the gods make heaven drowsy with harmony" (Shakespeare).

This book is written is a poetic way, that entices it's readers in, making this a book you wouldn't want to put down. The story ends with a twist that wasn't expected.

I enjoyed this book right to the end and can not wait to see what this author can come up with next.
