From the most moist chocolate cake,  carrot cake, Madeira sponge, vanilla sponge, coconut cake, lemon cake, to the more traditional fruit cake. And with cupcakes such as carrot cake, with Seville orange filling and cream cheese topping, you’ll find it hard to stop at eating just one!

 Newly established TasteThat! Speciality Cakes has been a dream in the making for Cake Maker and Manager, Donna Friend. What started out as a hobby over thirty years ago has now turned into a full time job for the former secretary.
“My love of baking started at a very early age” says the mother of one “I remember summer holidays visiting my Nan in Portsmouth, she would stand me on a kitchen chair, tea towel wrapped round me, wooden spoon in hand, ready to follow her recipes. I inherited many of her delicious cake recipes – indeed I still have the folder and her traditional recipes that I used for my ‘O’ level cookery exam. These have been tried and tested for over 30 years and I still use them today”.
 The speciality and novelty cakes are just as delicious. A lot of companies use fondant icing for decorative designs to make bespoke toppings like cupcake handbags shown on this page, which can be quite sickly just eating a mouthful of fondant. These handbags were made using a recipe combining rice crispies, marshmallows and butter. This is an alternative spin on using either just all fondant or sponge to shape designs.
