Canal Fishing in Milton Keynes |
The Grand Union Canal which runs right through Milton Keynes, entering the town in the north west through old wolverton and bradville. The canal then snakes around the east side of great linford and turns south, continuing south through Milton Keynes (between Fishermead and Milton Keynes Village) until it leaves the town through Fenny Stratford. This excellent stretch of approximately 12 miles of canal is ideal for both the casual hobby fisherman and the serious fishing competitor, with national match events taking place successfully along the canal for many years. Membership with the Milton Keynes Angling Association (MKAA) gives you access (along with your rod license) to fish along a 9 mile stretch of the Grand Union canal in Milton Keynes. For details see www.mkaa.co.uk. The types of fish you are likely to catch in the canal include good size carp, large eel and double cats but as it is also home to many narrow boats and the like which can obviously disturb the fish, however there is lots of opportunity as the boating traffic dies down.
