Charity rock concert @ the pitz- SACK TRICK + PIG IRON & RISE TO REMAIN |
FRIDAY 3RD OCTOBER / £7.50 / 7PM Doorslive at The Pitz Club "A memorial concert for Winnie Murray with proceeds going to THE ALZHEIMERS SOCIETY & CANCER RESEARCH UK" featuring the bands - SACK TRICK + PIG IRON & RISE TO REMAIN Hello, we are the pop group Sack Trick. We write songs about topics that other bands are too scared to address like tigers and unusual flavours of ice cream. Our first album is called "Music from the Mystery Rabbits". It contains the non-hits "I Play Bass", "Blue Ice Cream" and the ode for weary travellers "Hiring Camels". Some magazine or other heard it and said "This band could go far, but they sing songs about frozen desserts, so they wont.". They were right. Our second album is called "Penguins on the Moon", we'll be honest here and tell you it's a concept album about some penguins that go to the moon. It's got a colour cartoon strip to go along with the story. Kerrang magazine heard it and said "Obviously this is a work of utter genius; an instant classic". Rock Sound magazine said it was "brilliantly written, brilliantly performed and brilliantly put together, an album that deserves the title essential".Our third album is a tribute to another pop group called, Kiss. It's called Sheep In Kiss Make-Up. Because Kiss had already recorded their own songs in a serious (and very good) way, we thought we'd record them in a very silly way. You can hear Love Gun on this page, we also covered lots of other Kiss songs and even the whole of the Elder album- there's no point in dong things by halves is there? Lots of Kiss fans went crazy (crazy crazy) for the album. Kiss FAQ website said it deserved "more than superlatives can describe", classic rock magazine said it was "the greatest covers album of all time". We tried not to let that go to our heads, but when Bob Ezrin (the producer of the original Elder album) said he "loved" our version, we had to let that one go to our heads for an hour or two. Sack Trick don't play many gigs, but when we do we try to make them good. We like to play alternative venues such as very small islands, laserquest arenas and breweries. If you see a Sack Trick gig advertised you should go to it. You will like it.Sack Trick's plans for the future include releasing some more albums and a DVD and then hiding in a forest until it gets dark. There's loads more info, photos, vids, MP3s and stuff like that at www.sacktrick.com. Pig Iron are a bluesy, heavy rock band based in London, UK. Shortly after forming, while supporting the legendary Budgie, Pig Iron were paid a visit by Bruce Dickinson and Janick Gers of Iron Maiden, which resulted in a live performance on the Bruce Dickinson Radio show, on BBC 6 Music. After writing more original material, the band continued to get stronger as performers and artists and gathered some impressive support slots, culminating in a special charity show with the metal gods IRON MAIDEN at The Hammersmith Apollo in September 2005. The band have one EP entitled 'The Law And The Road Are One' out on Sounds Of Caligula Records, which is distributed by Cargo - in all major record shops. OCTOBER 29th 2007 saw the release of the latest PIG IRON full-length CD entitled 'The Paths Of Glory...Lead But To The Grave' and is in all good record shops. www.pigironmc.com |
