Christmas comes early for MK SNAP

mk snap Milton Keynes based charity MK SNAP are celebrating Christmas early after it has been announced that they are this year’s beneficiaries for the Wishing Pool at thecentre:mk’s Christmas show.

The Wishing Pool is a central feature to the annual Christmas Show in Middleton Hall and is used to raise money for local charity organisations and community groups. Since 1985 over £345,000 has been raised and distributed throughout projects that benefit the local community. Some of the groups that have been beneficiaries over previous years include GEMK, Age Concern Milton Keynes, MK Reader Service, MK Wildlife Trust, MK Community Cardiac Group, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Calvert Trust and in 2007 - St Tiggywinkles. The Wishing Pool at Christmas 2006 saw a record breaking year with over £25,000 raised, the first time the £25,000 barrier has been breached in the history of the Wishing Pool. The Calvert Trust and Great Ormond Street Hospital both greatly benefited from this vast sum of money. In 2007 a figure of just over £17 000 was collected, this time being donated to St Tiggywinkles (which is currently the subject of Channel5 programme Wild Animal ER) for their work in the field of wildlife care.

time staff providing care, tuition and support to over 80 registered clients. Ian Farmer, operations director of MK SNAP, said

This is fantastic news for the MK SNAP team. The donation will be used to help fund our new centre which doubles the size of our current capacity and can accommodate over 70 people. The new centre has also been designed for use by the wider community and therefore the money donated will be of great benefit to the local area.
