Milton Keynes - Clubland or Drabland?!
So lately I've been looking in and around Milton Keynes to try to find something interesting! I've found that (apart from the famous shopping centre) not very much happens during the day and to really see what MK is like, you've got to see the nightlife! Personally, I think we need more clubs in Milton Keynes, there's only so much choice within the Theatre District and Xscape available! While Newport Pagnell, Olney and even Lavendon have their fair share of pubs, nothing really amounts to a club for the average 18-25 year old in Milton Keynes.
The Theatre District in Milton Keynes plays host to a few clubs and bars. Groove and Lloyds seem to be the main attraction, and if you've visited these places, you'll know why! The Xscape boasts Oceana, Revolution and Moon Under Water along with First Base which resides just outside of the bowling alley.
Thursday night is definitely the night to be out, as it's student night the drinks are cheap and entry is free in Revolution, Groove and Lloyds. Oceana still charge their normal rate of around £5 but it's worth it for three floors of pure tunes!
Milton Keynes Nightlife Info!
Thursdays: it's the student night, so there are going to be a LOT of young people there, so if you don't fancy dancing around to songs that you probably won't know, with a load of young adults then Thursday is probably NOT the night for you! However, if you want cheap drinks, heavy bass and you like the population of todays youth than you might be pleasantly surprised!
Fridays: Friday's are usually weird around Milton Keynes, it's a mish-mash of those who want to get over the terrible week they've had at work and are prepared to spend the rest of the weekend getting over the massive hangover they give themselves and more young adults who didn't quite get enough the night before!
Saturdays: Saturday's are not cool, in my personal experience, the older generation come out for Groove's well put together collaboration of older songs - which range from S Club 7 to Bon Jovi! However if you do choose to venture out on that Saturday night, be warned, it does get mad after around 1am when the music changes back to the heavy bass and the drinks get expensive again.
Some people say Milton Keynes nightlife is like Marmite, you'll either love it or you'll hate it. For me it's a total love factor!
So I'll see you Thursday?
