Detectives are investigating three serious sexual assaults on women in Milton Keynes which they believe are linked.

The first incident happened on Saturday 2 May at 5.25am. A woman in her thirties was walking along the Redway near Barry Avenue, Bradville, when she was approached from behind and sexually assaulted. She dropped her handbag during the assault and afterwards that her handbag had been taken.

The second incident happened on Wednesday 27 May between 4.30 and 5pm.  A 50-year old woman was walking along Bond Avenue. As she approached the Redway near Marlborough Street, she was approached by a man who attempted to rape her and stole her handbag.

The third incident happened on Friday (5/6) at 10pm. The victim, a 15-year-old girl, was walking along the Redway, known as Railway Walk, Great Linford, in the direction of Gifford Park. Between the Black Horse public house and Gifford Park, the victim was pushed from behind, sexually assaulted and property was stolen from her.

Descriptions have been of a white man, who is slim, aged between late teens and 35 years old, of short to average height and wearing casual clothes. A baseball cap has been mentioned by some witnesses.

Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, leading the investigation said: “At this stage we are investigating these serious sexual assaults as linked offences. However we won’t know for sure if this is the same offender until we catch him. We have a dedicated team of detectives working on these cases. I would ask anyone who was near to the scene of these offences when they took place, to think back and contact us if they remember anything which may help the investigation.”

Ch Insp Paul Bradford, Operational Support for Milton Keynes, said: “We would advise women to take sensible steps to keep safe and walk home with friends or colleagues. Extra patrols are taking place along the Redways and we are working with our partners at Milton Keynes Council to ensure their grounds staff who work in these areas are fully briefed on the description of the offender.”

If people have any concerns, they can speak to their local neighbourhood teams who can offer safety advice and reassurance.
