Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes are reminding car owners not to leave their cars defrosting unsupervised after seven cars have been stolen in the last three days. All the vehicles had been left unsupervised with the keys in the ignition to allow the cars to defrost when they were stolen.
Two cars have been reported stolen today (6/1), one in Middleton and one in Caldecotte. At 8.14am a silver Vauxhall Astra SRI was stolen from a driveway in Longhedge, Caldecotte. Suspects were seen acting suspiciously in the area prior to the vehicle being taken and witnesses reported seeing a white man and a black man, both wearing scarves, driving away with the vehicle.
A 7am a blue Honda CRV 4x4 was stolen outside a house in Wrens Park, Middleton.
Yesterday (5/1), three cars were stolen from driveways while they were left unattended to defrost. The offences took place between 6am and 8.45am.
•A white Suzuki Swift was stolen from Bernay Gardens, Bolbeck Park
•A red Volkswagen was stolen from Protheroe Field, Old Farm Park
•A red Seat Alhambra was stolen from Longhedge, Caldecotte.
On Monday (4/1) two vehicles were stolen, again from driveways between 8am and 8.15am.
•A red Skodia Fabia was stolen from Bernstein Close, Browns Wood
•A black Nissan Qashqai was stolen from Hindemith Gardens, Old Farm Park.
Neil Goodridge, Crime Reduction Advisor, said: “People should never leave a running vehicle unattended, even in the mornings when de-icing them.
“Resist the temptation to go inside while your vehicle warms up, as leaving your cars like this makes it too easy for thieves.”
If anyone witnessed these incidents, has any information or sees the cars, contact Aylesbury police station on 0845 8 505 505 or call Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
