Dreamboats and Petticoats Review

dreamboat2Following sell out performances in November 2009, Dreamboats and Petticoats is back at the Milton Keynes theatre this week.

The show is set in the golden era of the late 50s early 60s against the backdrop of St Mungo's Youth Club, and focuses on a group of teenagers living their lives in the Swinging Sixties who enter a song writing competition. It’s quite a predictable story line but played out very well with plenty of humour and tongue in cheek moments.

I didn’t get the chance to see the show in November and to be honest I have never been a fan of a musical set around already established popular music, but I was pleasantly surprised with this show and my feet were tapping all the way through.

The cast played there parts very well and there wasn’t a note out of tune. I was also very impressed with the supporting cast band members and I enjoyed the fact that all the music was played live on stage in front of you.

By the end of the show the audience were up on their feet dancing along whilst giving a standing ovation which was thoroughly deserved.
