What will they ban next Breathing?

I’m sure that you are all aware of the smoking ban that came into play last year. I have been a smoker on and off for a few years now, and have endured the taxes that have been piled onto the price of a packet of fags, for the simple reason that in the future I may need medical attention because I smoke, and in my way of thinking, that means I have paid for the attention that is owed to me if anything unfortunate was to happen. (Although smoking has never been found to have a definite link toward cancer etc, I agree that there may be a risk). I also agree that when in a restaurant or in a confined area that this habit may be unpleasant for other people to breath in my smoke. So in those circumstances, I always left the room or asked the closest people if they minded if I had a fag. Most cases those people said that they didn’t mind.

As far as I am concerned I caused no problems for anybody. And in allot of cases, when I sparked up, they sparked up as well.

So what is the government drive all about? I know allot of non smokers give it the “bloody good job, filthy habit”, and completely miss the bigger picture. Think about it. When the authorities start banning things they very rarely come back. This time it is cigarettes, what will it be next? The time will come when they ban something that affects everybody, something a hell of a lot bigger than just stopping us from smoking. Next will be a complete ban of smoking, maybe drinking. How many of you drink? How many of you get annoyed when someone near you has had too much to drink and is getting a bit aggressive? How many of you get aggressive when you have been drinking? Isn’t alcohol a cause for concern? How many medical cases are admitted into hospitals every year taking up valuable beds because of alcohol? This to me is a much larger issue than someone sitting down to enjoy a cigarette.

It is quite strange too that this ban as far as I could tell met no opposition. It seemed to be accepted without question. Lots of people were moaning about it and there must have been a media shut down on any demonstration, or upset that this was causing people because I never noticed any significant protest. We just took it on the chin in the true cowardly British fashion.

I personally think that this is an experiment to see if the government could get away with it, and is softening us up for something else. I haven’t worked it out yet. It possibly happened at that particular time to distract us from something else that was going on behind the closed doors of number 10. Or to take our minds away from the real issues of immigration and how the numbers of foreigners entering our country were added up wrong. Or more likely something that hasn’t come to light yet. But trust me it will and we’ll all look back and wish to god that we nipped it in the bud at the smoking.

The most amazing thing has happened though. The government have got us fighting each other over this whole affair. For instance, I am outside having my morning fag break, and some customers walk past me, without fail they burst into fits of coughing, cover their faces and look at me as if I’m some kind of a criminal. I feel guilty for smoking. Are these individuals so brain washed now that they think seeing somebody smoking a cigarette is going to give them cancer? It’s bloody ridiculous. We live in a country of do gooders who haven’t got a clue about sticking up for themselves. Individuals don’t make an impact. But lots of individuals working together do, and I am afraid that England needs to learn how to stand shoulder to shoulder and not just accept what we are told, and ask questions about everything, because things are rarely what they seem in this day and age. The authorities are very clever, but from time to time they slip up and we have to be alert enough to catch them out.

At the moment the government are just a load of low life scum and are taking us for a ride, lining their own pockets with gold and treating us like slaves. Slavery is illegal in this country, and we don’t have to take it. Remember that the smoking ban is just the tip of the ice berg, and I am just looking forward to the uncovering of the back hander’s and swindles that will, and are taking place in the construction and development of the Olympic games.

Gibbo.

Mr
very interesting would like to know the percentage of smokers who have never succomed to the black market and have always paid full price for their tobacco, cigerettes etc. Thus ensuring the cost to the national heath service is paid in full. In regards to the proof about smoking and its relationship with causing cancer all one needs to do is look on the internet, although I'm sure such right minded people as those that read this column would'nt believe everything they read, no would they?
