What with all of the discussions going on just recently about cheap labour coming from Europe and the race and ethnic differences. It is on my mind allot. It is difficult to say what is fair and what is not, and it all depends obviously on which side of the fence you sit. If you are someone who runs your own factory, then I have no doubt that cheap labour would be very welcome, whereas in some of the areas which are more expensive to live in, cheap labour brings down the value of human worth in the work place as well as society. To bring a wage down to rock bottom around Milton Keynes doesn’t make life easy for many families, and makes it almost impossible for them to sustain any life at all, out of the workplace. Most towns in the past have always had a factory in the local area ready and willing to take on school leavers and students for full and part time work. If a particular individual wanted to get into a decent wage the day they left school, and not bother with the apprenticeships offered to them, then it was a good choice. Many of these people worked there all there working life, with the fore knowledge of receiving a pension at the end of their secure place of work. At the end of the day, it was a good package. Not long too long ago the major factories in my area, one by one, slowly closed down. Local people had to travel further to get jobs that kept them living the life they were used to, or at least putting food on their table. Then all of a sudden, a year or so ago a huge factory opened up, and I thought that it was great, not for me personally but I just expected to see signs up and adverts in the paper telling the public about the jobs that are going to be available. This was, unfortunately not the case. I only know of one, possibly two local guys who ended up getting a job there. The rest came from Eastern Europe. I know that when a factory opens in the U.K. or any business of a size, then there are rules which have to be followed. Certain percentages of the work force have to be special needs, or of an ethnic minority etc. etc. so what about the British people? What rights have we got? There has to be some kind of rule introduced that should benefit a local community. For instance, let’s just say a factory of a capacity of a hundred workers has opened in a town in Scotland. What is wrong with offering the first seventy jobs to Scottish natives within a thirty mile radius, then, after these jobs have been advertised for a specified period, if there are any vacancies left, offer them to everyone. This could keep people local to their home towns, there would be more jobs available which would possibly bring the average wage in that area up a bit. Crime may decline because we have a good chance of finding a job which will pay our rent. The bosses would have the opportunity of retaining the workforce because they are already local people, and are not going to work there for five years, and return back to their own country to spend British money there instead of spending it here. People wouldn’t be travelling so far, we could keep the all important fuel emissions down a bit. All we need is to have the same rights as everyone else. The native Brit’s have been treated like second class citizens for long enough and we need to start answering back. The term “is it ‘cause I’m British” will be used allot in the near future when you don’t get the job or pay increase you need, and the law should back you like is has done for many other ethnic groups. (Then again we all know the shit state our legal system is in). I get the feeling that the government are intentionally keeping us as underdogs and cannon fodder. The thought of moving away from here is very tempting, and if the government continues this way I think allot of British will be moving abroad. I just don’t understand how our supposedly “intelligent leaders” can get it so wrong, and so often. They lie, cheat and rob from us at every given opportunity, and if there isn’t an opportunity, they create one. Vote these idiots out of the house for goodness sakes before it is too late!
