Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted during the early hours of Friday morning (15/1).
The incident happened between 4am and 5am on Lower 12th Street, near to the Groove nightclub. The victim witnessed a man assault two women, knocking them to the ground. The victim went to confront the offender about what he had done, but he ran off towards the underpass in the direction of Campbell Park.
The victim chased after the offender and, as they reached Marlborough Street, the offender ran back towards the victim and hit him in the face with a brick. The victim sustained a cut and swelling to the side of his face. The offender then ran off towards Springfield.
The offender is white, aged 18-22 years old, 5ft 10ins to 6ft, and skinny. He had short brown hair brushed forward, with a fringe slightly sticking up, and was clean shaven.
PC Hazel Grant, leading the investigation, said: “At the moment we are only investigating the assault on the man who chased the offender. The two women who were assaulted have not reported the incident to the police but I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible.
“This man is clearly dangerous and needs to be caught. The victim was hit with a brick and his injuries could have been far worse. The two women are key witnesses as well as victims and we need their help to stop this man hurting anyone else.”
