I went with my dad which was a bit embarressing...it was my first rock concert n he didnt want me to go with mates!!! so we had to stay right at the back!!! it was so crap!!! coz i couldnt see Billie-Joe. :'( i just bought a magazine from WHSmiths n its all about green day...it cost £6...but they are worth every penny. I was gunna go see Hard-fi who supported Green day, but all tickets went!!! so not gud. so cant wait to go see green day again...im guna follow then 4 ages... Jimmy eat world and taking bk sunday were awsome but hard fi were a bit boring an no 1 really took any notice of them but it's was deffinetly a killer day out and n e 1 if u get the chance to go an see Green Day TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-) u won't regret it! It was my first ever gig and I'm so happy that I chose to wait until at time like that. Although I wasn't right at the front, I could still see Billie Joe running across the stage! When they played the first note of American Idiot, the whole crowd screamed (including me) and then I knew that it was really happening and that I was really watching Green Day. I would tell everyone to spend all ya money on Green Day tickets. If you don't want to, you can always give me your money and I'll spend it. :) Amy from Corby Purely awsome. chris from Aylesbury WOW it was the best day of my life! Me and my mates (and my mum) drove up on Saturday so that we could get there nice and earyl on Sunday. We stayed in the nearest Youth Hostel ( 4 miles away) and lying in our beds we could hear the saturday concert!! We got to the Bowl at about 8.45am and there werent too many people so we were RIGHT near the gates. It was SOO F***ING HOT i was gona die we had like 4 litres of ice water which i am so thankful for! The gates opened at 1 and we managed to get into the cage bit at the front. Cos we were so tightly packed we couldnt sit down so we ended up standing from 1 til about 1.30 in the morning! I thought the bands were gona start playin at 4 but no they started at 5. Hard-Fi were pretty crap altho i think they did pretty well i wouldve so f***ed up in front of that large a crowd! Taking Back Sunday were really good and Adam (the main singer) like sang at my friend for ages. During Jimmy Eat World I nearly fainted cos everyone was pushin and shoving but there were sum really nice people (Ryan and Stefan(Gingun):-) who helped us. When Green day came on it was sooo f****ng immense!! I got really star struck lol Mike was right in front of us! I love billie joe whoa hes so cool! I really wanted to get picked to play guitar but i didnt. The guy who got picked to play drums was right next to me (id been bumming him accidentally most of the concert lol :-P) They were REALLY good live they have so much presence it was amzin you cant blink or youll miss sumthin! We were blowing Mike kisses and he blew them back! During BOBD we got to the very front and we were on the big screen! I loved WMUWSE it made me cry he was so emotional but then he went str8 into Minority whcih was great it got everyone moving again :-) I lvoed the fire and the Bangs they were amzing ! I couldnt hear for like 5 seconds after they were so loud. I was in tears again wen he played Good Riddance i didnt want it to end!!! It was the 'time of my life' haha pun intended ok anyway so yeh ive gone on long enough no1s prbably even read this far But yeh I love Green day even more now and i really want to meet them also the last picture on the big screen before it went black was my frend she was so 'chuffed' lol I AM SO GOING AGAIN!!!! Everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere was great, not only that but the view was fantastic too! Green Day rock and I love Taking Back Sunday and Jimmy Eat World and would deffinately go again but I regret not buying any merchandise but me and my friends reeeeeeeeeeeeally needed some water but weren't allowed it in the pit but oh well, it still rocked. Obe from Wokingham words cannot describe how awesome that gig was on the 19th, i've seen greenday once before, but wow it was nothing compaired to that. hearing 65,000 people singing along, and going crazy. it is something I will never for get, and it was worth every minute of crappy hard-fi the three hour traffic jams and not getting home till 5am on monday morning! bec from matlock i saw green day on the 18th and i was so excited i got their pretty early and it was worth the wait i disagree with seb all the support groups were great and they left the stage very nicley open for greenday and hard-fi were good anyways greenday rock and cant wait for decembers gig in earls court yay!! I was near the front but then got pulled out as i was ill nd fainted. o well! i was still there and it was amazing!!! my friends were very lucky they got there at 8:39 and were let into the front part and were touching the barrier!! i wud advise no FORCE ne1 to go its so kl. And even if ur a chav! BECOZ THERE WERE CHAVS AND TOWNIES THERE!! ALICE from Torquay Well after waiting in the baking sun for 3 hours for the gates to open, me and my friend than had to wait a further 3 hours for the gig to actuall start! But hell i'd do it all again! I went on 18th june Hard-fi in my opinion were ok but not that brilliant at getting the crowd going, the only time any of us cheered was when they stopped singing and left the stage. When Taking Back Sunday came on, everyone when ballsitic, some serious moshing took place there and i think a few people were carried away, which for them was pretty bad, but for me it was great because i got closer to the barrier! thats nasty of me to say i know but i don't care. Only problem was, the microphones were wacked, i could actually hear what they were singing but i just copied wot the rest of the crowd were saying. Jimmy Eat World were brilliant aswell, they sounded amazing. They got the crowd pumping and ready for anything. there was a major mosh pit behind me highly amusing watch drunken lads throw themselves around before finally collapsing in a heap on the floor and having to be carrier away. And then the best part of the evening. GREEN DAY! it was amazing. it was the first open air gig i've been to and the first grren day gig i've been to. Billie joe had different part of the audioence competing with each other, this just proves how much we adore him. Green Dat's rendition of Queens " We Will Rock You" was superb. I've never rock out so much in my life. Being right at the front i was able to feel the heat generated from the pyros, awsome is the only word for it. For all those who have never been to a Green Day gig, i would recommend it. In conclusion, severe sunburn, major dehydration and several cracked ribs, it was the best day of my life!!! ROCK ON!!!! I can't wait till they do another uk tour. I live about 8 miles away from MK and so it was ok to get to coz we knew some quick ways to get there. 1 of my brothers and my boyfriend's younger brother somehow got into the pits and adam's brother nearly got picked to play billy's guitar but didnt, he came up on the screen tho, if any1 saw him, he had long blonde skater hair and he's 15 lol. TBS, well i fell asleep! and hard-fi well there s**t. we all went to see green day on the 19th and they just blow any of the support bands away. well what can we expect. we arrived at 11.00am and desided to visit the pub first only to find they didnt serve alcohol until 12.00. wen we left the pub at 2.15 we made our way to the arena and wen we got in..... drink tokens which were £3.00 a token....rip off. we found a spot near the beer tent.... best spot. and waited for the evnt to start. if any body saw the craig david from bo'selector he was with us!!! wen the support bands ad finished and GREENDAY had turned up the crowd was amazing.....Billie must have felt so privilaged to have the power of the whole arena i mean he made the whole 6500 people do the mexican wave. we crowd surfed to the front and wer so close to the stage we were right on the barriers! i liked green day before but after seeing them live i now love them. the best part of the night was minority. and time of ur life to finish ended the gig with a buzzin atmosphere. if ever you have the chance to see them live take it. the first gig and def not my last it was amazing. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I expected them to be good but not THAT BLOODY GOOD! We left at 8am and arrived around 12 to find a queue that was at least 3 miles long. I am so sad that we left early.. we hoped to have caught the last train home.. but missed it and had to hang around London for 4 hours. So.. got home at 8:30am but well worth it! I would do it all over again. I can't be arsed seeing anyone else's concert.. only Green Day. Billie Joe is FiT and such a born entertainer. Tre is such a laugh with his random outbursts and funny facial expressions. I wish I had gotten closer but the heat and sweaty skin pressing up against me was not my thing. Looking forward to the next Green Day concert.. and I will get there effing early.. I don't give a damn if I get crushed because if I'd die.. at least I'd die happy. Love Green Day. Liking a band comes from respect for their musical talent; the structure of the songs; the ability to reach out to so many people all over the world. NOT WHATS TOPPING THE CHARTS. The amount of "hardcore" Green Day fans I saw in their "American Idiot" hoodies and wristbands walking around singing "American Idiot" (you get the point,) was just sad. I actually asked a few of these people what their favourite album was, and about 70% of the time it was "American Idiot". When I asked if they had even heard any of the other albums, about 20% said "no", about 30% said "yeah, they're s**t", and about 50% said "I dont really care; American Idiot is all i need!" Now this is what p*ssed me right off. Fair enough you like "American Idiot" (its not a bad album) but bands dont make 8, yes 8 f***ing albums for you to only listen to 1 of them. Over. And over. And over f***ing again. Im sure Green Day would want you to listen to a larger selection of their material, as im sure they would like you to hear it. I dont mean to bitch but most people will know what I mean. Dont get me wrong, that gig was one of the best single band concerts ive been to in my life. But not for that f***ing album. For me it was mostly the atmosphere. The fact that 130'000 people (over 2 days) all gathered together to see 3 (well about 6 now) people sing some tunes. Its amazing how people can be brought together by that sort of thing. And thats what I dont think these kids, (no offence) thats what I dont think they understand. Gemma i luvd seeing greenday and i meet a relly nice cute boy called sean lizzy went to see greenday on sunday. they were amazing! more than i thought they would. my first gig ever and i don't think anything can top it. it was f***ing great. atmosphere was amence and the crow was huge. got to the barrier and there was water bottles being chucked in the air, crowd surfing, fantastic. when greenday came on everyone was jumping listening to the music. billie joe fantastic and the others. this has got to be the best band. got some great pictures but comp is fucked up will send them through later. greenday was amazing, songs were too loved king for a day!! if you have the chance see them - a man that can feel himself up infront of 65,000 people is a legend!!!!! jon They were amazing i ve never been to a concert better in my life but i have to say the prices were a rip off and hard-fi werent that good but other than that it was brilliant. katie Greenday were amazing, TBS put on the best show of their lives!!!!!!IMENSE! Ginger Went on the sun, i nthe blistering hot. What was up with hard-fi? No one has ever bored the crowd so much. It was my first ever time in the mosh pit, and i was utterly disapointed to start with. Then, on come Taking back sunday. I hadnt heard any of their music before... but they rocked. Jimmy eat world- AMAZING!! Got the mosh pit goin so much i had to get out. Watched green day from back centre- wished i was in the pit, but i would have died! green day was amazing, lucky brat who got billies guitar. they only let 3000 on the front mosh pit.. i was the 3003rd to try and get in. whata load of crap. we had the best scam ever to get in the pit but the security guards where too good. And billie joe "playing" with himself- ill watch that anyday! :D Bottles flying everywhere... most of which got thrown by me so the surrounding 10 people were going "give the bottles to bottle girl!" haha! its great... all the stuff was stupidly overpriced. never mind... never had so much fun. Did burn ALOT, but it went brown, so heigh ho. surprisngly i ran into 5 people i no, kinda kool. How many eople were standing at the front? LOADS!!! Saw billies ass... soooo nice! IT was the best day of my life!! it was soooooooo cool!! i was so close to billie-joe!! i got some really good pics, it was a bit hard cause i was in the middle of the mosh pit and ppl kept jumpin on my toes!! Green Day Rocked!! Jade Mahoney I saw green day on the 18th and it must have been the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!, of course, after a while, my back was killing me, but it was well worth it!! I loved every minute of their performance!! I really can't express how AMAZING it was!!! The pyrotechnics, the fireworks, the ATMOSPHERE!! Billie and mike hit evry note spot on and they were so tight on the guitar and bass...they kick ass the first support band was s**t..i had hurd them before on x fm but they didnt do it for me, tbs were awesome and jimmy eat world were great too but green day were f***in AMAZING they were....incredible They came on and they whole crowd went into a f***in frenzi, GD opened with American Idiot which caused anarchy..mosh pits EVERY WHERE it was awesome i think basket case, she, king for a day and wake me up when september ends were the best songs...and minority . Every one was singing along in every direction you looked....billie joe is really hott!!! the kid that got the guitar was only 14 lucky s**t...the look on his face was soooo funny. he was wearing the same as BJ down to the blck converse! i really wanna see them again in a smaller venue...that would be super amazing L.C we went 2 greenday on the saturday and it woz seriously scorching. we got quite a crap place n the a guy puked next 2 us which sucked so during jimmy eat world we tried 2 push our way 2 the front - woz BOILING! I cunningly fainted n me and a m8 got crowdsurfed 2 the front (life ambition number 1 complete!). My friend emz went lookin 4 me at the back - GUTTED! I woz like 2 metres away from billie joe at some points - he smiled at me (life ambition number 2 complete!) and i hav a bit of paper that he touched (coz i'm not sad...!) Jimmy eat world were awesome and really set the mood, but nothing could prepare you for the eruption when green day took the stage. The second time Ive seen them and certainly not the last. It was a totally amazing experience even with 4 hr drive and the 5 hr wait 2 get in then the 3.5 hr time 4 da 1st band 2 play and then the dissapointment when they wouldnt leave! It was totally worth it and we loved every minute. all of the songs were good and cant pick any favourite moments loved it all. I didnt know what to expect as it was my first green day gig as well as in a venue as big as the bowl. we found a place to sit and worked our way as close 2 the front as possible when jimmy eat world came on, who were brilliant! then it went insane when green day came on! im still buzing from it, words cannot describe what an amazing gig it was!!i went liking them i came out loving them, i cant wait to see them again. i havn't stopped listening to green day since i came back!! Well worth nearly 12 hours in the car woth out a doubt!!!! One word.... AMAZING!!!!! Thea, Sweden Living up north, seeing Green Day in the Bowl was always gonna be the most difficult gig to get to. 4 and a half hours in the car and it was worth every moment, which was always gonna be difficult to say! Unfortunately we didn't arrive til gone 5 and with the wristbands given out to only the first 3000 people, that is people there at 8o'clock in the morning, it was really difficult to get through the crowds to the front. But It was manageable. And yes, we did try bribing security with no effect :( (Hey to all the funky people at the barriers with me!) Overall I felt of the three supporting bands Jimmy Eat World were the best by far, well you would kind of expect it. The set was lively and the crowd loved them! I was, however incredibly disappointed with Taking Back Sunday, and spent the whole of their set wondering how long it would be til the lead singer strangled himself with the mic! I have no idea where it is written that swinging a mic wire around your neck is cool. Green Day I have to say were incredible. And though jammed against a barrier for half of it, I had the best time ever! The pyrotechnics were amazing. They hit every note and Billie Joe got the love of everyone in the crowd. The booing at the mention of George Bush's name was enough to prove how much the crowd adored him. After a swift fainting act, the delights of the pit opened themselves up to me and my friend and after little struggle we got within four metres of Billie and Mike. It was simply the most incredible yet unreal experience of my life! I must congratulate Green Day on the most amazing performance! Boulevard of Broken dreams was incredible, probably my favoutite song of the night. The chanting of the 65000 people all singing, was louder than Billie Joe! The cover of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' was also outstanding. I missed lots of the set due to people crowd surfing over me, fainting next to me or being dragged out for bad conduct in my vicinity, though the atmosphere with the fans was so fun and lively it was worth every second. I met some great people and I saw probably one of the best gigs of my life. If you haven't yet been it is a must see. It was my first time seeing Green Day live though it will not be the last with that performance! 10million out of 10! Hugs for all that went! My two children attended the above event. On admission were forced to throw away 2 bottles of water on a day when the temp reached 28 C and then had to pay £2 for a cup of water. Pure rip off! Mr T McCreadie GREEN DAY RULE!!! I went on the saturday and it was boiling. When green day ran on the whole crowd went wild it was fantasic. Oh by the way what the hell was with the pricing of the bloody food and drink. £2.00 for a dam calipo. All i listen to now is Green day. This girl at my school said 50 cent is so much better than Green day so i told her go f*** off and die. What a bitch. GREEN DAY SO RULE!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got inside for 2.15 and were out in the arena by 3.45-got all the merchandise n everything then got to the front in time to be crushed as the cameras came out for the first time. No-one sat down after that, so was stood at the barrier without moving once from 2.45-11.15. Hard-Fi are s***-never seen such an unresponsive crowd, but Taking Back Sunday and Jimmy Eat World did a great job of warming the audience up-not that they mattered when Green Day came on stage of course. Crushed against the barrier from then for the next two hours. Getting people shouting back the bits from shout was great fun, and finshing on Time Of Your life might be corny but it had to be done. King for a Day was fantastic, and Minority was my highlight although all the new stuff and everything out was obviously fantastic as well. Best night of my life, and i'd guess the best night of his life for that kid who got to keep the guitar. If you ever get the chance to see Green Day do it, even if you dont like them that much you will live-just trust me...... The scorching sun made the day very challanging but the support bands excelled themselfs in putting on an entertaining performance. All I can say about Greenday on stage is that they are absolutly amazing unforgettable experience. James D i went to both gigs at on the 18th and 19th of june! greenday were absolutely amazin! the atmosphere was amazin! as soon as greenday stepped on stage the whole crowd went insane! louise flavell Green day fkin kicked ass at milton keynes on 18th!! fkin awesome!!! best gig ive eva been 2!!! billies got a nice ass Jenn Green Day @ Milton Keynes National Bowl Saturday 18th June 2005 I got last minute tickets for this one and have never been to anything like it before, so i really didn't know what to expect. We arrived at the front entrance after a long treck from the pub in the baking sun, there was a massive queue so we just went straight to the front and they let us in after a quick search (sweet). The next step was to get some shade and some beer, so we got in the queue for the 'drink tokens' which are £3 each and get you one drink per token. After catching some shade we headed up to the main arena. Up some concrete steps with only the bright sky visible at the top, until you get there and see a sea of 60,000 people sitting in the blistering heat enjoying the supporting acts (Taking Back Sunday & Jimmy Eat World) and waiting for the main event. In a group of about 10 we sit for hours up on the hill, soaking up the atmosphere and enduring the heat. TIP: If you're going to a gig in the summer BRING AN UMBRELLA! The supporting acts were doing a good job of entertaining us all but the crowd started to come alive with signs of Green Day soon to be appearing on stage. When they appeared we ventured into the dense crowd and got as close to the stage as possible, it was magic. The atmosphere was electric, water bottles were flying everywhere and the sound of 60,000 people going 'yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh' filled the air. Green Day were amazing, performing hits from old and from their new album. Green Day really get the crowd involved, Billy Joe got sections of the crowd competing to make the most noise and at one stage they even had 3 kids from the audience playing instruments on stage. There was a lot of singing, screaming, hands in the air and a bit of crowd surfing and that was just me! I would recommend a Green Day gig to anyone who even likes one of their songs, the live show is awesome. Roll on Oasis... James from Milton Keynes |
