Thanks to intensive preparations, Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is coping well with the extreme weather conditions.
Most Trust staff have battled through the heavy snow and icy roads, determined to support their patients and colleagues.
Jayne Skippen, Emergency Planning Coordinator, said: "It is business as usual at Milton Keynes Hospital. Whilst the weather is bad, our dedicated teams continue to care for patients and deliver high quality care.”
“At present, all appointments and operations are going ahead. We have contingency plans in place, so that services continue to run, and we have facilities for staff to stay overnight on site, if required.”
“However, if patients are unable to get to the hospital, they should call and cancel their appointment. We urge local people to ensure that they are safe at all times, and to take special care at this time of year, whether driving or walking.”
“A special thanks goes out to all staff who have gone the extra mile over this period. For example, a group of domestic staff and porters walked in from Bletchley. Everyone has been pulling together, and working as a team. My husband has been out and about collecting doctors, nurses other staff to ensure the smooth running of our services.”
”We would like to thank all our staff who have fought their way through the snow to get to work.”
Facilities and Estates staff have been working since 5am to clear roads and paths, with one individual taking over an hour and a half to walk in to support colleagues.
