Local Pensioners May Now Have To Pay Back More Than £200,000 |
At the hearing on Friday 27th of August local pensioners Trevor Leach and Dr Vander Joss learned they may have to pay back more than £200,000 when other costs are taken into consideration in a courtroom packed with friends and supporters.
The amount is supposedly for accumulated costs of the hire agreements that were introduced in 2008 but then back dated to 2003. Solicitors for the pair said they deny they have any liability for these debts and also dispute the amount that the council are demanding. The judge McIntyre questioned why the council had waited since 2008 to bring the case to court, the response from the council representatives were by saying the amount of £120,000 had been agreed by both parties at a meeting in March, this was denied by Mr Leach and Dr Joss. The judge has adjourned the case for time to consider it. The council still claim they are unable to comment on this matter. miltonkeynes.com got a response from our users and supporters of Mr Leach and Dr Joss on the previous news article relating to this matter(click here to view that page).
