Love/Hate Band History

Love/Hate Rock Band

Love/Hate, possibly the most underrated band in the world. 20 years later Love/Hate music is fresh and in your face. The message is pure and for the ages. Love/Hate believed in the party and reached for the hammer of the gods. Party music like gospel music focuses on the soul of the human condition and on the Sunset Strip in the late '80s, the rock gods anointed a golden era and Love/Hate understood the magic.

Love/Hate was formed by Jizzy Pearl vocal, skid bass/songwriter, Jon E Love guitar, Joe Gold drums in 1984. The band moved in a warehouse in downtown LA in Skid Row, and all the band members lived together in "Soul House" for six years. Before getting signed Love Hate rehearsed, recorded and promoted day & night everyday for many years. This strict regimen and strong work ethic helped Love/Hate move up the ranks of thousands of local bands. In 1988 Love/Hate could sell out the Whisky, Roxy, Troubadour, and many more clubs in Hollywood.

While unsigned, Love/Hate opened for GNR, Jane's Addiction, LA GUNS, Faster Pussycat, and other bands that made a big noise. Love/Hate got signed to Sony/Columbia records in 1989. In 1990 Love/Hate released the critically acclaimed "Blackout In The Redroom." The Song "Why Do You Think They Call It Dope" was in full rotation at MTV for 10 weeks. Love/Hate toured non-stop in support of the record. Touring highlights included a 2 month support slot for DIO and a sold out club run in the UK. In the summer of 1989 Love/Hate got the ultimate support slot opening for AC/DC on a 2 band bill, 10 weeks of sold out arenas across America laid the foundation of Love/Hate's fan base.

In 1992 Love/Hate released the critically acclaimed "Wasted In America." Wasted was a hit at metal radio and Love/Hate toured relentlessly. Touring highlights included 2 months on a 2 band bill supporting OZZY in Europe, 2 weeks supporting Skid Row in sold-out arenas in the UK. By 1992, Seattle grunge had taken over, and Love/Hate was dropped by Columbia. After their two major releases Love/Hate was burnt out and jaded. Jon E Love needed a break, Darren Householder was recruited to play guitar. Skid sold his fancy Corvette to finance the self-produced "Let's Rumble." With no record deal, the song "Spinning Wheel" became the most requested song at LA metal radio station KNAC. This airplay and sold-out club dates helped Love/Hate keep the band going. In 1994, Love/Hate got a deal with RCA Europe and Caliber in the US and released "Let's Rumble" with little buzz or fanfare. The band toured, the songs were good, but the magic was gone. In 1995, Love/Hate signed with Mayhem. Love/Hate recorded and released the self produced "I'm Not Happy" that was received enthusiastically by fans, but totally unnoticed by the public. In 1996, Love/Hate disbanded. Bitterness, broken friendships, broken trust, just plain broke. Time marched on and the members of Love/Hate grew up. Marriages, mortgages, children, new careers and always a respect for Love/Hate in its prime. In 2007, Love/Hate got together for a reunion and the magic was back. Love/Hate plans on making a new record and playing shows whenever they can.

L.A. Guns Band History

L.A.Guns Rock Band

L.A. Guns got their start on Los Angeles ' Sunset Strip more than 15 years ago. The band was formed in 1986 and signed with Polygram Records in 1987, recording their first album that summer. This first album, titled "L.A. Guns", went on to sell 750,000 copies and earned the band its first gold album award. Tours with AC/DC , Iron Maiden , and Def Leppard followed. A compilation of the videos made from this first album also earned the band a gold video award. L.A. Guns went into the studio to record their second album, "Cocked and Loaded", in the spring of 1989. It was a hit right away with the release of "Rip and Tear" as the first single and video. "Never Enough" and "The Ballad of Jayne" followed, pushing album sales over 1,000,000 and earning the band its first platinum record award. The video compilation from this album earned the band its second gold video award. A successful world tour followed. The band's third album, "Hollywood Vampires", was recorded in the fall of 1990. With the release of "Kiss My Love Goodbye" as the first single and video, and another successful world tour, the album went on to sell 700,000 copies and earned the band its third gold album award.

The band went back into the studio in 1994 to start work on their next album "Vicious Circle". It was released in early 1995 and was followed by another successful world tour. Between 1996 and 1999, the band's members branched out recording and working on outside projects. In late 1999, L.A. Guns went into the studio to record a greatest hits package titled "Black Beauties" that also included five new songs written for the album.

The band toured with Poison, Ratt, and others throughout the summer of 2000. In 2001, the band released its sixth studio album, "Man in the Moon". The band also changed bass players with Adam Hamilton joining. A successful world tour followed. The reviews of the album were great and the band was determined to follow this up with an even stronger set of songs for the next release.

L.A. Guns entered the studio for their seventh album in early 2002 with veteran producer Andy Johns, who had worked with the likes of Led Zeppelin and Van Halen , to record "Waking the Dead". The album was released in late 2002 and garnered LAG some of the best reviews the band had ever received. It was also when Tracii Guns decided to work on outside projects as well as some solo material. That same year, L.A. Guns acquired Stacey Blades to handle the guitar slot. Blades had been around the L.A. music scene for many years recording and playing lead guitar in both Roxx Gang and Smack. He fit the bill perfectly coming from the same school of rock that LAG was from.

After a 2003 world tour to support "Waking the Dead", L.A. Guns went into the studio during the summer of 2004 to record "Rips the Covers Off" with producer Andy Johns. This was a collection of 70's rock songs that the band grew up listening to. Once again, the band went on a full world tour to support the new CD.

In January of 2005, L.A. Guns began work on "Tales from the Strip" with Andy Johns again producing. The "Tales" CD was released August 2005. Reviews were great with many saying it was some of the best music out today. LAG hooked up with WASP for a late summer, early fall tour. In early 2006, LAG did some local L.A . shows and recorded them for a new live CD. This new live CD, "Loud and Dangerous", was released late August 2006 with the band again supporting it with a world tour. Look for "Loud and Dangerous" and L.A. Guns on the road in 2007.

Originally formed with a different line up, the new L&P, (as it has affectionaly become known by the faithful) has 1 original member Adrian Dunn . His objective was easy: To tribute an era in music which has been sadly neglected over the last decade, 80sRock.

The fan base for this genre has always been with us hence the popularity of the tribute market. Tributing acts like Bon Jovi, Guns & Roses, AC/DC, Aerosmith etc... attract huge crowds up and down the country which tells us despite current chart trends that Rock is still in the forefront of live music, and with the emergence of acts like Airbourne, The Answer, and fun, party, 80s style rock is again definitely on the up.

Our next step was to recruit the remaining members. Next to join the fold was bass player Paul Gunn. Paul had played in the Marshall Band.

And to vocalist Wayne Kensett. Wayne had originally played with guitarist Adrian many years back in a band called Crazzma., a David Lee Roth fueled Stevie Vai extravaganza of colourful, catchy rock/metal that played all over the counties, with Wayne and Adrian penning the songs.

And so the band set off for their quest of developing a set of classic 80s Rock anthems, songs which are timeless and instantly recognisable. We have nearly 2 hours of material including ; Bon Jovi, Guns & Roses, Motley Crue , AC/DC, Ozzy, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Thunder etc... all played to a very high standard that do this era the justice it deserves.

Adrian Dunn has been playing the guitar since he was old enough to hold it. He has numerous projects under his belt and began gigging in the late 80s as a teenager with 70s glamsters The Sweet. He is also playing in Mothers' Ruin, a signed outfit featuring ex members of popular 80s band Heavy Pettin. Crazzma later became Wild at Heart and and another guitarist was added. Adrian currently has about 40 guitar students under his wing in his native Milton Keynes.

Our aim is to re-live those classic songs and bring the party back into rock.
