|
During the summer months people are likely to enjoy an alcoholic drink in pub gardens or at barbecues and Thames Valley Police and Milton Keynes PCT (Primary Care Trust) want to remind people of the consequences of drinking too much and help everyone help themselves to stay safe on a night out.
The multi-agency Safer Streets campaign has been designed to give the public advice about safe drinking that can help stop people becoming victims of crime. Drinking too much can make you: overconfident Deputy Local Policing Commander, Ch Insp Andy Standen, said: “Make sure you are sensible about how much you drink and know your limits. We want people in Milton Keynes to enjoy alcohol responsibly and not end a night out with friends or family with an injury or being locked up in the cells or an evening in the Accident & Emergency Department at the hospital. “Stick with your friends at all times and never wonder off on your own. Make sure it is a night to remember for all the right reasons. If you need any further advice please visit our website at www.thamesvalley.police.uk” Dr Diane Gray, from Milton Keynes Primary Care Trust, said: “Keep your drink with you at all times. Don’t get so drunk that you can’t say no. Look out for your mates. Think. Be safe. No regrets.” Tips for Safer Drinking Make sure you have had something to eat before a night out – never go out drinking on an empty stomach Keep an eye on your mates and stick together so you can look out for each other

Two men assaulted in separate attacks – Milton Keynes Police are appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted in separate incidents at the weekend. The first incident happened on Saturday (20/6) at about 5.30pm in Great Linford. A 39-year-old man was approached by the offender and called a paedophile. The offender then walked off and sat down. As the victim carried on walking the offender assaulted the man from behind, punching and kicking him. The second incident happened on Sunday (21/6) at about 10.20pm. A 45-year-old man was walking along a Redway close to Stantonbury Park when he saw a group of about eight young people. One of the group approached him and said: ‘You’re the rapist’, before punching him in the face. The offender in the second incident is 17 years old, of mixed race, 6ft and well built. He was wearing a white baseball cap, white sleeveless T-shirt and three-quarter length black, white and grey camouflage trousers. Det Insp Dave Dachtler said: “We are concerned that these attacks are a vigilante response to the sexual assaults currently being investigated by police. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of mindless violence and offenders will face charges if they engage in this behaviour. “If people have concerns about an individual in relation to any crime they should contact the police and let us deal with it. Any assault or act of vigilante behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. These offenders are not acting for the good of the community they are merely thugs using the serious nature of the sexual assaults as an excuse for violence.” Anyone with information about these assaults can contact CID at Milton Keynes police station via the 24-hour non-emergency number, 0845 8 505 505.
