attackThames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked outside a pub in Milton Keynes on Friday 18 June 2010.

The incident happened at about 10.30pm, outside The Cricketers Pub, Oldbrook. A man who had been drinking in the pub was attacked with a bladed instrument.

The victim sustained two lacerations to the top of his head and one to the back of his hand. He was taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital, where he received 20 staples to the wounds on his head, ten stitches to his hand, and five to his ear. He was kept in hospital overnight.

Det Con Simon Tyas, leading the investigation, said: “This was a particularly violent assault and the victim is now scarred for life. The pub was very busy at the time and we know there were people in the pub that witnessed the attack but are reluctant to talk to us. If they saw what happened but don’t want to talk to the police, I would urge them to call Crimestoppers and give any information they have anonymously.

“The victim has given us permission to release photos of the injuries he sustained in the hope it will encourage people with information to come forward. This could very easily have been a murder investigation and we need the public to help us stop this offender doing the same to someone else.”

If you have any information about this incident, please contact Det Con Tyas at Milton Keynes police station via the 24-hour non-emergency number, 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to speak to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

You can also give information to the police in person by visiting any police station. Find out the opening times and location of your local station (opens new window) or please call 0845 8 505 505.
