The guru's identity is shrouded in mystery, in some quarters he is thought to be older than all members of Miton Keynes Council put together. We have asked him about his age but his response..."this is of no Milton Keynes consequence".

Please feel free to ask just about anything, as long as it is at least loosely connected to something within Milton Keynes. We will try to publish all questions and answers, to ask the Guru your own question, please fill in the comment form below...

Question:Good Friday Bus
I am trying to find out what the timetable changes will be to the number 4 service tomorrow, Good Friday, I need to be at the station at 9am
Jayne

Answer:Have you downloaded the timetable for '4/4A/4E Wolverton - Stony Stratford - Central Milton Keynes - Bletchley' ? If you open the file and scroll down to view the last page, it shows times for Sunday and Public Holidays. I assume this would cover Good Friday as it's a public holiday. However you may want to double check with Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.

Question: Hi Guru
What Cycle parking is there at Milton Keynes Central Train Station. Is their any secure parking or cages and if so how much do they cost?
Andrew Culpeck

Answer: Hi Andrew, There are secure cycle sheds at Milton Keynes Central, with CCTV coverage located just outside the front of the station but apparently they are run by Milton Keynes Council and you have to contact them in order to book your cycle storage. You can call the council on 01908 691691. Hope this helps. The Guru

Question: I'm coming from luton on the bus and have ten mins to change to the train. how close is the train to the bus and do i have time?
Phillip

Answer: Hi Philip,

Milton Keynes train station is about 200 yards away from the bus station, directly opposite across the square. So you would have plenty of time, that is assuming that your bus is on time and you are definitely arriving at the central bus station.
Have a look and find out what time the next train leaves just incase your bus is a bit late or you are arriving somewhere else. The Guru

Question: I live in a small house in MK with no space to store a bike so am considering a folding bike - do you know anywhere local that hires out folding bikes? They seem to range from £200 to £600 and it's difficult to know whether budget bikes would be a false economy for what I need or not as the advice I've had is that they all differ in how well they ride and how well they fold.
Shy local resident

Answer: Hello Shy Person

There is a large Halfords store in Milton Keynes, they have a good range of folding bikes and the staff can be very helpful if you are nice. Ask them lots of questions and see if you can see the bikes in action in store.
You can give them a call on 01908 606248 Halfords, Unit E, Patriot Drive, Milton Keynes, MK13 8PU

Question: Ive recently aquired an application form for a transfer from Luton to Milton Keynes. Im not sure which area would be best...Ive shortlisted: Leadenhall, Netherfield, Bradwell, Beanhill, Eagleston, Great holm and Coffee hall. I do not drive, and will be attending Northhampton Uni in September so need to be close to local transport. I have a 3yr old son so would prefer to be near a school, play area's and other local amenities. I am also interested in enviromentally friendly housing...which areas would be best to put down on my form? Thankyou :)
Michigan Farley

Answer: Hi Michigan,

Bradwell seems to be the most suitable area overall. It is one of the nicest and quietest estates, close to the train station, city centre and it has a good nursery school close by in Bradville and local play areas.
Personally i think Great Holm is the nicest area out of the ones that you have shortlisted, not that there is anything greatly wrong with the others. Great Holm is very close to Milton Keynes Train Station and the shopping centre but unfortunately does not have a nursery school close by. See our Milton Keynes Nursery Schools page for all nurseries in Milton Keynes and their locations on a map.

With regards to environmentally friendly housing, there isn't much to go on in Milton Keynes unfortunately. Shenley Lodge is one of the few estates that have a green ethic, along with some of the newer estates such as Ashland. You could contact the council on 01908 691691 for more information on green housing.

Here are some more contact numbers for MK Council departments related to housing. They should be able to help you further.

If it was me, this would be my list in order of priority. But you may find different, i don't want to put you off anywhere that may be more suitable.

3. Leadenhall

Question: hi im going to wembley to see madonna on the 11th of september and it doesnt finish til late (around 10/11pm) could you tell me if the mk station will be open and if there is an alternate route i could get to get back home :) thanx
Mark Morgan

Answer: Hi Mark

I have checked train times on both the 11th and 12th and it seems there are trains arriving at Milton Keynes central train station as late as 02:45 am. So i would assume the station is open at this time, otherwise they wouldn't let you buy tickets. See the contact details on our MK train stations page here if you want to contact them and make sure for yourself.
Unfortunately there isn't much alternative to trains for getting back, you could hire a car or use a taxi but this would be quite expensive costing you around £80.
You could always walk or cycle :) Have fun.

Question: I'm going to Milton Keynes from Birmingham. how do i go to the shopping centre from the train station and back?
Helena

Answer: Hi Helena, If you head in a straight line from the main doors of the Train Station, Midsummer place (the new part of the shopping centre) is less then a mile walk away. Directly straight ahead, along Midsummer Boulevard.
There are regular buses from Milton Keynes Central Station which stop at the shopping centre, a good stop is The Point which is just outside Midsummer Place.
Milton Keynes Bus Timetables which should help you plan exactly which buses to catch.
The other option is taking a taxi, and with the distance being under a mile this should be minimum fair for most taxi companies in Milton Keynes (roughly around £3). Taxi Numbers in Milton Keynes

MK Bowl
written by Sal, July 25, 2010
Why does it take so long to exit from the bowl car park? I was at Prodigy gig and we waited an age just to get off the car park! With no clear markings or stewards to help guide car users out it was free for all and idiots barged their way (when the could) to the front....
