Milton Keynes Hospital encourages local people to Keep well and safe as severe weather continues |
|
All appointments and operations are going ahead at Milton Keynes Hospital, as usual. There has been a slight increase in the number of pople coming into A&E as a result of slips, trips and falls. If patients are unable to get to the hospital, they should call and cancel their appointment. We urge local people to ensure that they are safe at all times, and to take special care at this time of year, whether driving or walking. The roads and pavements are still icy. KEEP WELL THIS WINTER Please check on the welfare of elderly and vulnerable neighbours and offer them help and support, such as getting essential groceries, if required. To keep warm and well during periods of cold weather: · Ensure that you or vulnerable people you know have enough food and medicines in stock, and check that they are able to keep themselves warm. · Have regular hot drinks and at least one hot meal a day – if possible, eating regularly helps to keep energy levels up during winter. Keep as active indoors as possible. · Wrap up warm if you need to go outside on cold days. · If you are travelling by car, remember to take warm clothing, water and a well-charged mobile phone in case you are delayed or become stranded. · Take precautions before going out in wintry weather. Wear sturdy shoes or boots if you go out walking to lower the risk of slips, trips or falls. |
