BTEC driving qualification
launched to help the annual 30,000 'vocation-less' school leavers with BTEC qualification in Driving Science

Shocking government figures show that every year 30,000 16-year-olds leave school with no qualifications. A further 10,000 scrape through with just one GCSE at Grade D - or even below. Global companies like McDonalds and Tesco have recently begun offering alternative qualifications to help address the issue. This broad scale qualification gap comes as worrying news for the government as Jim Knight, Minister of State for Schools and Learners, recently stated that,

Our long-term goal is that every learner in this country has an engaging and comprehensible set of options that equips them well for the world of work.

The Wider issue PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 27 April 2008 16:08
Gordon Brown recently backed down over his plan to abolish the old 10p-tax rate. Brown’s actions have once more revealed the contempt he feels for ordinary working people across the country. A review is set to investigate its consequences and check that nobody misses out financially. The revolt by some of his MPs to force this move is further evidence of just how out of touch with the core supporters of his party he really is.  This will be of little comfort to the low paid who are all suffering at the hands of a rapidly rising cost of living – of which taxation is only a part. Labour is no longer the party which represents them. It does not even appear to care about them.

This problem is of course, part of a wider issue: that of a faltering domestic and world economy. When he was Chancellor Brown was the beneficiary of reforms undertaken by the Tories and the money that they had saved. He claimed credit for the good times. Faced now with serious economic problems he does not appear to know what he is doing. Labour MPs are openly questioning his policy decisions. The Conservatives lead the polls. Prudent Brown is now in deep political trouble.

The suspect financial practices were ongoing when he was Chancellor. The public sector has seen record levels of investment under his stewardship but only limited improvements in output and performance. Northern Rock was not rescued before it collapsed – despite warnings. The Army in Iraq and Afghanistan suffers needless casualties due to poor equipment. People die in hospitals at the hands of drug resistant superbugs. Crime statistics report falls in overall crime but few believe the figures. Public sector workers strike for pay deals that the country can not afford. We sneer at China for human rights abuses but ignore violations at home in the name of freedom.

We are seeing the true capabilities of Brown and his government and it is not looking good. In addition to being grossly incompetent Labour is increasingly dictatorial. When will the country get Browned off with Brown and throw him out?

Britain Most Watched Country PDF Print E-mail

Britain has 1% of the world’s population and 20% of its CCTV cameras- 4.2 million cameras in all.  Many feel safe because of this, but violent crime is rising and even the government insists that sex crimes are much higher than reported.  So what is the use of them, unless it is something more sinister.  The Royal Academy of Engineering said that lives could be put at risk by our big brother society.  This is because any system that holds huge amounts of information is open to abuse.  There is also a risk with the radio frequency microchips to be used in ID cards and passports.  They could be eavesdropped.  The government’s privacy watchdog commissioner, Richard Thomas, said the government’s CCTV mania was creating a climate of suspicion.

Fresh Trial expected in Stephen Lawrence murder case PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 March 2008 12:52
The Daily Mail is still proud of itself for ignoring rules of sub judice in its coverage of the Stephen Lawrence murder case.  They printed pictures of the five white suspected of killing the black teenager, under the banner headline ‘Murderers’ Now that the rules of double jeopardy have been abolished, two of the five and one other may face a re trial.  Having learned nothing from persecuting the innocent Colin Stagg and trying to get John Hogan pilloried on the word of his wife; they have run a story, which presents us with the suspect’s guilt before the re trial.

The Unspeakable Speaker PDF Print E-mail

Many struggle to understand the convoluted language of House of Commons Glaswegian Speaker Michael Martin.  He trades on his working class roots whilst hiring expensive limousines to take him from Glasgow Airport to the un mortgaged suburban pile that he has been claiming massive mortgage expensive for from the tax payer.  These are not the only issues relating to he and his wife Mary Martin’s luxurious tax payer funded life style.

Media Black Out PDF Print E-mail

The media establishment is being very smug in their condemnation of veteran Channel 4 News reader Jon Snow’s comments about the news black out on Prince Harry going to war.  Snow is cousin to famous Swingometer man Peter and part of the comfortable media elite, but thank goodness he has the guts to speak out.

New Labour is Failing and Will Lose Next Election Says Charles Clarke PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 05 March 2008 12:49
Charles Clarke might be accused of Brown nosing now that he has voiced regret for making “negative” comments about the Prime Minister.  He believes he may have damaged the government and the Labour Party.  Nonsense, you are a proper Charlie if you believe that Mr Clarke.  Brown has damaged himself.  The only people who thought he was a good chancellor were those he helped to make rich.  Cheap credit, porn and booze distracted the rest.
