Taxi Tips from Skyline Taxis...

Always give yourself enough time
Skyline Taxis advise that you give yourself at least 20 minutes for journeys to the train station, work, coach station etc. as there are factors that are out of anyone’s control that can delay and disrupt journey times, such as traffic or road works. It always better to be 10 minutes early than 10 minutes late.

Always Pre-Book
Never get into a Private Hire Minicab without booking, this is illegal for minicab drivers.  Always call to pre-book and make sure you get into your cab.  Skyline Taxis send a text message with your vehicles details before it arrives. If you do use an un-booked minicab beware, the Company will have no record of the journey and you will not be insured should anything happen!  It is fine to get into a 'Hackney' cab without booking as these are fully licensed to pick up un-booked fares.

Overcharged?
If you think that the driver is asking for too much money for your fare, call the Taxi Company whilst you are still in the car. They will have the booking logged on the system and can give you a good estimate of what the journey should cost, advisable to resolve your query there and then.

Always Book
Never get into a Private Hire taxi without booking, this is called 'blagging' and is illegal for taxi drivers on a Private Hire License. If you do use an unbooked taxi, there will be no record of the journey so the driver has to make up a (usually extortionate) price on the spot, if you leave any property in the taxi you have no hope of getting it back, you are also not insured should anything happen. It's fine to get into a 'Hackney' cab without booking as these are fully licensed to pick up unbooked fares, Private Hire Taxis are usually Saloon or estate cars and Hackney cabs are usually Black Cab London style, larger cars.

Booking A Minibus
When traveling with more than 4 people it is always advisable to book at least one day in advance to ensure your vehicle will be available. Most companies will send out 2 cars if there are no buses available, 2 cars will cost slightly more so do double check with the Company.

Booking an Airport Transfer
Advisable to book in advance, giving the cab company’s time to ensure they have a driver available and it also gives them the opportunity to check flight information to avoid any delays.
