11th September 2008 An online video about Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust now features on the main NHS website, NHS Choices www.nhs.uk. As a successful NHS Foundation Trust Milton Keynes Hospital was chosen as one of the first hospitals to feature in on-line video format on the recently revamped site. Visit www.nhs.uk to find out about what NHS Foundation Trust status means for local people and to find out more about your local hospital. The NHS Choices website aims to make authoritative and high quality health information simple for patients, the public and health professionals to use. NHS Choices draws on the skill and experience of many health and social care information resources including nhs.uk, NHS Direct and the Healthcare Commission. The multi-media website has sections giving advice on healthy lifestyles and also allows users to carry out an online health check. Jill Rodney, Chief Executive of Milton Keynes Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: The NHS Choices website includes information on issues such as waiting times, hospital ratings and general cleanliness. It is aimed at helping patients choose where they want to be treated when they need non-emergency surgery. We know patients and the public are keen to access information on health, particularly because patients are now able to choose where their hospital treatment takes place. Our waiting times are continually being reduced and our cancer performance is exemplary, with over 99 per cent of patients being seen within target timescales. Having been ranked by the healthcare watchdog as the best performing hospital in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, we hope that Milton Keynes will increasingly become the hospital of choice. Staff across the Trust work as a united team to improve healthcare standards. We are very pleased about our standards of cleanliness and clinical care, but we are not complacent. Innovation by staff and feedback from patients and visitors are used to continually improve our services.” The on-line video was put together by the Department of Health, and there was no charge to the Trust.
