New Milton Keynes Commander |
3 June 2008Thames Valley Police is pleased to welcome Chief Superintendent Alan Baldwin as the new Basic Command Unit (BCU) Commander for Milton Keynes. Chief Superintendent Baldwin took over on 2 June from Acting Chief Superintendent Andy Taylor who has been in the role since November last year. Acting Chief Superintendent Taylor has accepted a new role as Detective Chief Superintendent - professional lead for crime investigation for the Force - based at headquarters in Kidlington. Acting Chief Superintendent Taylor said: ‘While I am pleased to have been promoted, I view my move with mixed feelings. Milton Keynes presents a unique challenge in terms of policing, the blend of the traditional and the innovative, and the pace of growth combines to make it an exciting place to live and work. “Alan is lucky to have such a committed team of officers, staff and volunteers working with our partners to make Milton Keynes a safer place to be. I wish him every success in his stewardship of the police area and would like to thank the people of Milton Keynes for the support they offer to their police.” Chief Superintendent Baldwin joins Thames Valley Police direct from the Metropolitan Police Service where he was most recently the Detective Superintendent responsible for public protection matters, following a two-year posting as deputy Borough Commander in Islington. He said: “This is such an exciting opportunity for me and it’s made even more special because it’s in Milton Keynes. For me it’s like coming home. I will be policing the area where I live and will have a 24/7 involvement in what’s going on. “I will be looking to build on the fantastic work already done by Andy, the team and all of our partners.” About Chief Superintendent Baldwin
