Northern Ballet Theatre Revives Festive Classic A Christmas Carol

Milton Keynes TheatreAs part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, Northern Ballet Theatre will spread Christmas cheer throughout the UK this winter when the Company tours Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol.  Christmas comes early this year as the production will open at Milton Keynes Theatre on Tuesday 13 October 2009.

A sumptuous parcel of theatre, musical and ballet, NBT's A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge's transformation from mealy-mouthed skin-flint to the most famous champion of Christmas spirit.  Scrooge journeys through time to be confronted by ghostly visions from his past, present and future. Lez Brotherston’s colourful sets and costumes conjure up a traditional Victorian Christmas, and are perfectly complemented by Carl Davis’ festive score, which blends classical music, played live by NBT’s Orchestra, with well-known Christmas carols sung by the company.

Originally choreographed by Massimo Moricone and directed by Christopher Gable, the production premiered in 1992 at the Theatre Royal, Bath, where it broke all previous box office records. The production has been a much-loved staple in the NBT repertoire ever since and has been toured extensively.

David Nixon explains “Restaging what has become a signature piece from the era of Christopher Gable demonstrates NBT’s commitment to preserving our heritage by performing key works from our repertoire.  A Christmas Carol has delighted audiences nationwide for more than a decade. It is a great festive production that appeals to the whole family.”

Don’t be a humbug.  By your ticket for this family treat today at Milton Keynes Box Office 0844 871 7652 or visit www.ambassadortickets.com/miltonkeynes and come and see members of NBT get into the festive spirit at 4pm 14 Oct at Midsummer Place where you can get involved in our Fezziwig Ball!
