Operation Rebound results – Wolverton

Wolverton neighbourhood officers used head cams during high-visibility patrols aimed at tackling underage drinking and anti-social behaviour on 11 and 12 April.

The activity, part of Operation Rebound, saw officers seize alcohol from underage youths, while also carrying out a number of ‘stop and accounts’ and issuing fixed penalty notices. It received a positive response from members of the public.

PC Chris Bird, one of the neighbourhood specialist officers based at Wolverton, said: “My team is working hard to track down and deal with those who consume alcohol when they are under age and any people who act in an anti-social manner.

“We will maintain our robust approach in a bid to deter and catch would-be vandals and to reduce crime in the areas they frequent.”

Chief Inspector Andy Standen continued: “Operation Rebound is designed to let people know that, when their behaviour is unacceptable, the police and our partners will take further action to disrupt what they’re doing and to stop them upsetting other people.

“It is not about trying to issue everyone with an ASBO. It is aimed at both adults and young people and, where necessary, trying to make parents aware of the actions of their children, to stop the sort of conduct which causes nuisance or problems in local areas.”

Police urge parents to take responsibility – by knowing where your children are and who they associate with - before the police have to intervene.

Chief Inspector Standen added: “Anti-social behavior can be intimidating and often causes distress. We will continue to run Operation Rebound during school holidays and at other times. It is about making it feel safer to live and work in Milton Keynes.”
