Police Appeal For Witnesses

Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes is appealing for witnesses after an alleged sexual assault on Saturday (17/7/2010).

Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes is appealing for witnesses after an alleged sexual assault on Saturday (17/7/2010).

At 1.30am, a 23-year-old woman left Lloyds Bar in the Theatre District, Central Milton Keynes and got into what she believed was a private hire taxi.

She was driven to the H7 Chaffron Way where she was allegedly sexually assaulted in a lay-by, opposite the entrance to Colindale Street, Monkston Park, before the driver drove off and left her in the lay-by.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen a woman getting into a dark coloured car in the parking area by Fitness First in the Theatre District, Avebury Boulevard or saw a vehicle pull over or in the lay-by just off Chaffron Way, near Monkston Park between 1.30am and 2.15am to contact them.

Det Sgt Dawn Pegg, leading the investigation, said: “Chaffron Way is a busy road, even in the early hours of the morning and the alleged incident took place just off the main carriageway. The offender’s car would have been stationary in a wide junction that does not lead anywhere because the road into the estate has not yet been constructed.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to remind women to try and stick with your friends on a night out and if you do get separated from them, always make sure you use a pre-booked taxi.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Det Sgt Pegg at Milton Keynes police station via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to talk to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
