Motorbike owners are being urged to be vigilant after a recent rise in the theft of high-performance motorbikes in Milton Keynes.

Bikes have been stolen from outside homes and from inside secure, domestic garages.

One tactic being used by offenders is to place a large object, such as a wheelie bin, outside the front door of properties to hamper the home owner if they are disturbed. Where possible, these items should be stored out-of-view.

Police are asking for anyone who owns a high-performance bike to report any suspicious person paying attention to these bikes while they are being cleaned or when they are being taken out or put away.

Owners who have recently advertised their bike for sale have also been targeted.

Bike owners should ensure that their bikes are secured to immovable items even if they are locked inside a garage. Garages can also be made more secure using extra padlocks.

If you see anything suspicious, please call Thames Valley Police via 0845 8 505 505 24-hour general number. If you do not want to speak to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

If you require further crime reduction advice, please also ring this number.
