This summer has already seen a spectacle of sporting greatness the Football World Cup, Wimbledon, the Tour De France, the Golf Open, and international Cricket have all featured highly on the nation’s TV screens. Not to miss out on the act thecentre:mk has put together a schedule of events on its indoor beach to entertain children and promote physical activity including MK Don’s Beach Football Master classes and sports evenings from Sports Leaders.
Free events on the beach include; from the 17 July to 24 August between 6.30-8.00pm each Tuesday evening, thecentre:mk will be hosting beach parties for 8-13 year olds designed to encourage their dancing feet. Whilst on Thursday 29 July and Thursday 12 August, MK Dons Sports Education Trust will be hosting football skills session and friendly match in Middleton Hall from 5.00-7.00pm. The sessions will focus on ball control and shooting and is sure to help improve your game. Supporting these two initiatives on Thursday 19 and 26 August between 5-7pm the UK Charity, Sports Leaders will be hosting net games evening, featuring beach badminton, volleyball and tennis.
Melanie Beck, Advertising & Communications Manager at thecentre:mk commented on the news, “The 2012 Olympics are only two years away and Britain is quite rightly going sports crazy. Children are constantly being encouraged to try sport and increase physical exercise and we thought the use of the beach was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
The events taking place on the indoor beach are intended to be fun but if they inspire a future professional dancer, premiership footballer or Olympic champion then you can always say, you saw them here first!”
Once again this summer, regional shopping destination, thecentre:mk has transformed Middleton Hall into an indoor beach. From the 24 July – 31 August children of all ages are able to enjoy life at the beach whatever the weather. This year over 160 tons of sand has been shipped in to Middleton Hall to create the indoor beach, for children to play in whilst the adults relax in deckchairs. There will also be a lighthouse helter skelter, swing boats, a crazy golf course, a carousel, 30 foot high coconut trees to climb* and weekly sandcastle competitions.
