Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a security man was robbed at Tesco in Wolverton on Monday (21/9).
The incident happened at about 11.10am, as the security man walked from the store towards the security van carrying a cash box. The victim was approached by a man and sprayed in the face with an unknown substance. The offender then grabbed the cash box and ran up the side of the store near to the railway and round the back. Fortunately the cash box was empty.
The offender is white, about 20-years-old, 5ft 8ins and stocky. He was wearing a waist length dark jacket, jeans and had short dark hair.
Det Con Matt Mills, leading the investigation, said: “There were a number of people stood at the bus stop when the robbery happened and it’s likely they witnessed the incident or saw the offender. I would ask these people to contact us.
“The cash box had an audible security alarm which the offender would not have been able to stop from sounding. The box itself was fitted with blue/purple dye packs which would cover the offender when the box was opened. This dye is very difficult to get off and may still be on the offenders clothes.”
