The Milton Keynes College – Art, Design and Media exhibition is taking place in Middleton Hall at thecentre:mk until the 29 June. The event is open to the general public and is showcasing Fine Art, Textiles & Design work of talented students from Milton Keynes College from the age of 14 years. If you’re planning to study graphic design, media, interior design, photography, fine arts, textiles – or simply keen to see what the most creative students can produce then this exhibition is for you. The exhibition features work from students in all year groups at the college and some of the work displayed has guaranteed the students places on degree courses at institutes including the University of Lincoln and the University of Sheffield. The main poster for the event was decided by a competition amongst all the students taking part in the exhibition. With the winner being Lauren Merrill who came up with the intriguing idea of a diary open to the world set on the exhibitions opening date and the thoughts of the diary writer in plain view. “What is outstanding is the level of thought the students have gone into with this exhibition” commented Adrian Pinckard, Head of School, Art, Media and Design at MK College. “On display is work the students have undertaken for real clients, as well as, course work for university places. The exhibition is key to the student’s coursework and whether the students are displaying their own coursework or work undertaken for local businesses what stands out is the level of creativity and professionalism realised in each piece. Some of the work has also been selected by Rob Babcock, principal of Milton Keynes College Dr. Keith Straughan, Vice principal for Higher Education and Mike Stanley from MK Gallery to be displayed in the new University Centre building which will be opened in October this year.” Not to be outdone some of the tutors work is also on display for the general public to view. The exhibition is ongoing until the 29 of June and some of the students will be onsite all week to answer questions about their work. |
