 If you’re looking for something different to do on a Friday night we might have just the solution at The Stables on Friday 12 September at 8.45pm – it’s an evening of contrasts!If you enjoy bands like Air and The Blue States, or the film scores of Bernard Hermann and Lalo Schiffrin, you’ll love Toni Castells. His music has a dreamy, floaty, cinematic quality inspired by some of the best classical and film composers (think Morricone meets Satie). It’s as if Björk, John Cage, Bach, Kraftwerk, Brahms, Puccini, Röyksopp, Moby, Beck, Massive Attack, U2, Pink Floyd, Mozart, Radiohead, Keith Jarrett, Gorillaz, Morcheeba, Basement Jaxx, Sigur Rós and Brian Eno all got together to form the worlds’ biggest and most chilled-out supergroup! Tonight Toni joins us with his laptop and an opera singer in tow so prepare to drift away on a musical experience quite unlike any other at The Stables this autumn. In contrast with chilled-out Toni, Riddler are an upbeat, quirky band who create original songs written from the heart, with a slightly surreal twist. A vibrant, emotive and energetic live act, they have recently supported Pete Doherty and Paolo Nutini, to a great reception from their crowds. Their sound echoes influences from Moloko, Imogen Heap and a happier Portishead. Most recently, they worked with Hungarian band RemembeR to record and produce the music video New Shuuz, New Life, which reached No. 2 on MTV Hungary in April 2008. With further collaborations in the pipeline, Riddler look forward to creating both audio and visual works of art to feed their creative output.
