Biodiesel is a clean-burning bio fuel produced from domestic renewable resources such as used cooking oil, oil seed crops such as rapeseed, or unused vegetable oil.
It is biodegradable, non-toxic and carbon neutral and because it has 80% lower emissions than mineral diesel, it dramatically reduces pollution.
It is inexpensive and easy to produce at home and is safe to use in any diesel vehicle without any modifications to a car’s engine.

Dan Murphy, Operations Manager of thecentre:mk, commented on the news:
“thecentre:mk takes its commitment to the environment very seriously employing over 4,000 people and having around 30 million visitors per year we can have a major influence with our environmental initiatives.
Neat Biodiesel (100% biodiesel) reduces CO2 emissions by more than 75% over normal petroleum diesel.
By taking waste oil from the food outlets and producing Biodiesel it’s another step in thecentre:mk’s environmental policy.“
The news comes on the back of a series of environmental successes for thecentre:mk, in recent months onsite food composter ‘Big Hanna’ has started production and it has already processed 2.2974 Tonnes of Food waste.
Sending waste to landfill generates 2.90 tonnes of greenhouse gases for each tonne of waste sent and ss no waste has gone to land fill, so far 6.66 tonnes of greenhouse gases have been saved by Big Hanna. Coupling this with surpassing government recycling targets four years ahead of schedule thecentre:mk has been named winner of the Energy and Environment Award, Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards 2008. |
