Two men from Milton Keynes have been sent to prison after being found guilty of an aggravated burglary in Milton Keynes where a man was stabbed.
Lee Kris Chapman, aged 23, from Kennet Drive, Bletchley, was sentenced to a total of four years and nine months in prison for aggravated burglary, having an offensive weapon, unlawful wounding and possession of a class B drug. He was also sentenced to 12 months in prison, to run consecutively, for a separate of offence of grievous bodily harm.
Michael Donachie Mundy, aged 24, from Plumstead Avenue, Bradwell Common, was sentenced to three years in prison for the aggravated burglary.
Both men were sentenced yesterday (6/10) at Huntingdon Crown Court, after being found guilty by a jury on 20 August earlier this year.
On 18 January, Mundy and Chapman smashed their way into a property in Hainault Avenue, Giffard Park. The victim inside the house fled out of the back door while the offenders stole property including a laptop and television.
As the offenders fled from the property, a neighbour chased after Chapman who then stabbed the man in the abdomen. He was taken to hospital and treated.
Chapman was arrested by police near to the scene of the stabbing, after climbing into a nearby lorry. Mundy was identified after text messages on Chapman’s phone implicated him in the offence.
Det Con Dave Phipps, who led the investigation said: “This was a particularly nasty burglary which ended with a man being stabbed. We could easily have been dealing with a murder investigation. The fact that neither Chapman nor Mundy admitted the offence demonstrates their lack of remorse for their actions. We are pleased they have been given a custodial sentence and thank the victims and witnesses for helping to ensure these offenders were made to pay for their actions.”
