Your hospital needs you!

We are looking for local people who want to get more involved in helping us develop existing healthcare services at the hospital, as well as plan new ones, that meet the needs of local residents.

We will be holding elections on 12 May 2010 for five vacancies on our Members’ Council, which is the body elected by members of our Foundation Trust to represent their views and help us run the hospital.

And that's where local people come in. Any member of our Foundation Trust can stand for election as a member of the Council. You don’t need any specific experience; you just need to care about your local healthcare services and be keen to help us make them even better. Being a member of the Council will involve a time commitment of around one to two days a month.

We currently have one vacancy in each of the following constituencies:

•Bletchley and Fenny Stratford, Denbigh, Eaton Manor and Whaddon
•Linford South, Bradwell, Campbell Park
•Hanslope Park, Olney, Sherington, Linford North, Newport Pagnell North and Newport Pagnell South
•Stantonbury, Stony Stratford and Wolverton
•Outer catchement area (includes parishes in the areas of Buckingham, Winslow, Leighton Buzzard, Linslade, Woburn Sands, Hanslope, Old Stratford, Beachampton, The Horwoods, The Brickhills, Woburn)
 

When it comes to local healthcare services we are proud of the work we do for our patients at Milton Keynes Hospital:

Our Ward 17 team won the Nursing Times Team of the Year in November 2009 (and were invited to 10 Downing Street to meet the PM)

•we received the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark which recognises the good practice and high standards of how we have developed and used our cancer care building.
•we have a state-of-the-art simulation centre which develops the skills of our clinical staff and boosts patient safety
•we delivered a brand new, £2.3m Endoscopy Unit within 7 months.
we’re reducing waiting times, increasing staff levels and investing in new high-tech equipment. We also recognise that we still want to do more, such as continue the improvements we are making in our maternity services. So why not help us?
